To allay some concerns we've seen on various forums, we have no intention of dropping R18 content in our games going forward. Unless a similar situation to Lorena arises, we'll continue our policy of releasing R18 patches for Steam, and publishing standalone R18 versions.

However- if a developer requests that we do not release R18 content, if discussions are unable to result in a change of heart, we will in most cases adhere to the developer's wishes. As a publisher, our reputation among developers is critical to being able to acquire licenses.

We will always exhaust all avenues to release the R18 content people want and will only result to removing that content if we are unable to get the developer to agree.

We will also clarify our policy on Steam builds. We will make any cuts we feel are necessary to gain approval on Steam, and, excepting the above situations, will always patch that content back in with a separate patch.

This may result in less than ideal experiences for Steam purchasers who are unaware of the existence of said patches, however the reality of the business is that the single biggest factor in the financial success of a title is having it on Steam.

We are considering publishing a list of changed/removed content from Steam builds for transparency, however due to Steam's moderation policy, said document would not be able to be posted to the Steam community page for titles.

We've said this before, but we are all VN fans first and foremost, and have all been on the other side of the proverbial fence before. Rest assured that unless something fundamental changes, we have every intention of continuing to provide high quality content, including adult.

We'd also like to request people refrain from speculation and conspiracy about the reason for the developer's stance chance. It's disheartening to see people attacking a developer without any background knowledge of the situation, and jumping to conclusions.

In general, it reflects poorly on the western VN community, and risks increasing difficulty of acquiring licenses. Developers can and do often follow what happens in the western community, and personal attacks like this may reduce their willingness to publish in the west at all.
